Fayda digital ID: how did registration go for you, and where did you enroll?

Fayda is Ethiopia's national digital ID, run by the National ID Program. Here is what official and news sources say about getting one. - Registration is in person. You provide biometric data and approved documents at a registration centre. - Ethio telecom says registration is free and that you must be physically present for biometric capture, at its centres or at authorised partners. - Afterwards you receive a 12-digit Fayda Identification Number by SMS on your mobile. - Residents qualify, including children above age 5. Ethio telecom says younger children will be handled by a separate program later. - If you do not have proof of address, you can enroll through a witness who is already registered in Fayda. - The number is free. A printed card has to be paid for separately, and a digital copy is available through the telebirr mini app. - Ethio telecom centres, Ministry of Revenue tax offices, selected bank branches and the Post Office have been listed as registration points. - Banks are being phased into using Fayda for customer verification. Vendor pages cite different timelines, so ask your own bank what it requires. Registration centres change. Check id.gov.et for the current list of locations before you travel. Your turn: which centre did you use, how long did it take, what documents did they actually ask for, and any tips for people enrolling elderly relatives?
